1st Time At The Beach!!!

Ok. I didn’t think this was going to be as good as it was. I thought the sand would be slow - I thought there wouldn’t be enough beach - I thought it would be too cold. Well I was wrong it was super fun.  We traveled 6 hours north to use the big beach up in Humboldt County which is also the same beach I learned to kite surf at. Clam beach. The first day when we got there the tide was high and the wind was low. Also our confidence was low. As time went on the tide dropped, the beach grew, the wind came up and a few hours later we were doing these big runs up and down this miles long beach. The first two clips are of the first day.

The second day the wind was really blowing 25-30mph. We were juiced with a 6m Ozone Access kite. This time the wind was coming more from the north which meant we had to tack more. We got a lot better at turning thats for sure! Because this is a 2 person operation theres a level of understanding of what the other person is going to do that takes time to develop. By the end of the day we were turning without talking.

At the end of day 2 we were getting pretty cocky and we were trying kite loops at the end of our runs. It was really pulling the buggy and it was pretty fun until we actually flipped the buggy! I am so grateful for the rollbar! We ended up bending the steering shaft mounts and that ended our session. I escaped unscathed. Brett had only a nasty bruise on his thigh from a seatbelt buckle. Now we know – the buggy can flip!

All in all this was a great trip and we are all excited to see how well it worked and we are excited to do more.

Helmets on.  Brains engaged. Send it.
